At the Table
How the Tables Are Run
A closer look at the hall, the dealers and the customs guests are expected to know.
Inside the Hall
Five Tables, One House Dealer Each
Once supper is cleared, the hall opens with five tables, each taking a dealer as the room fills.
Five hundred and euchre run earliest, rummy and canasta follow, and friendly poker with no buy-in usually closes the night.
Every table is dealt by hand — there is no machine of any kind anywhere in the building.

- Seating
- Tables seat up to six; the dealer finds you a place if one's full.
- Rotation
- Dealers rotate tables roughly every hour.
- Points
- Chips settle nothing but the count at the end of a hand.
At the Table
A Few Table Customs
- New to a game? Tell the dealer before the first hand; a short run-through takes a minute.
- Please keep phones off the felt — there's a shelf by the wall for them.
- The dealer's ruling on a hand is final; take any dispute to the duty manager.
- Chips stay at the table until the hand is settled, then return to the rack.
